Question The Battery for 2008

Now that the BRCA and EFRA have release the legal cells for the 2008 season which ones will become the most popular. As far as I can see we have had a GP phase and now an IB phase. Some are saying that the new Orion SHO cells do not seem to have enough go in them but I have noticed that recently every new car release picture seems to have a pack of them inside. I currently run EP but not many others seem to run these and they are now illegal ones as they are not the revised 2008 ones .

So what are the views of others on the which battery for 2008?

Interesting I was thinking of the EnerG cells as well. Anyone else want to pitch in?

Remember that these were out early, before the list, tothers are still thin on the ground. I would not know who is supplying which, I have seen single Yuntong's on the Demon site.

I saw a B44 on Sunday running the Orion cells, and believe me, they had all the "go" in the world in them....

Product placement - car manufacturers get stuff like this free in return for showing it in their new cars to brain wash you

I'll happily participate in the brainwashing of people - but sadly I think any reviews I do will have my dog-eaten old cells in.

The new orion cells looked rather disapointing for the first 2/3 charges. After that they where taking around 4600mah after equalising them. I tryed a pack of these that had done a meeting and they have loads of power

POST FROM TRISH (He's on the phone to me)

The 4200 actually refers to 4200 mW/h which equates to 3800mah – Anyone that can work out a bit of electrical theory should be able to work that out. They have been labeled as 4200 but they’ve only done this so they can achieve legal cells (due to having to reduce the width) – I ran them all weekend with no problems and had loads of power, plenty of runtime and if anything I found them better then the IB4200’s.

Nowhere does it actually state 4200mah, so it’s a bit mis-leading but if you read carefully they are perfectly fine.

Is anyone assembling and matching SHO 4200's?

I can find loose cells, but not assembled ones?

Thanks

Chris, As far as i know, Schumacher, Peak and Orion are all matching the SHO EU cell (the legal one!), I know Schumacher have stock, and i know Horizon and Mirage have had stock, but no idea if they have them currently.

its like the GP4300 cell, it said in small text 4100mAh, they just called it a 4300 because IB had 4200mAh cells.

My SMC EnerG's arrived today 467sec@ 35Amp, 1.232V, 1.4IR

So pretty close then

Won't have mine built before the weekend so won't run them much before the first national. Hope they are as good as they look as they have a kind of carbon fibre effect which is good.
