Unhappy Motor/ESC & Electrics for TRF501X

Hey there guys,

I'm an oople forum virgin so be gentle okay.
I am in the middle of building my 501X and I'm wondering what people are running as far as motor & esc's go.
I bought a Traxxas Velineon motor and esc and it's just too bulky to fit. I wanted to go brushless with this thing, anyone here running a brushless setup? But I'm not eager to spend more hard earneds without knowing whether motor/esc will fit.
Failing all of that I can put my brushed Venom 13t motor and Futaba esc in it. I just have to rescue it from my sons DF-03.......maybe he'll swap for the velineon.....hmmmm

I think the most common BL setup seems to be the LRP (or Nosram) Sphere comp. ESC and an LRP X11 5.5 turn.

LRP or Nosram Brushless seem to be the hot ticket for the ESC..... and the motors are a thing of personnal taste...( with a few track size and conditions mixed in there ) I tend to prefer the Novak Light series since they are a little bit more "USER FRIENDLY" on the bottom end with the same top speed.....

Here is a link to a good thread with some electronic layouts for the 501x

Hi There,

I use LRP Sphere and X11 5.5 too, its a good match power wise. I never did work out how to fit it all under the standard 501x shell properly though, the sensor wires on the motor stick out so theres a bulge!

For the speedo, it will just about go either behind the motor, or behind the servo on the other other side!
