Sensored motor running without a lead
Ive had someone ask me if a sensored motor will run on a speedo (Mamba Max Pro) that will run sensored and sensorless motors, but wants to run it sensorless (without a sensor lead fitted)
Will the speedo run the sensored motor without a sensor lead attached? Cheers Lee |

Yeah should be fine, the sensors are there for the benefit of the Speedo, not the motor.

It can depend a little on the motor itself too. If the rotor is thin and/or the magnet is weak sensorless speedos can have trouble running the motor. This will be noticeable through excessive cogging.
Most are fine though so just give it a try. You won't be hurting anything. |

The motor in question is a Orion Votex Pro race 7.5 if that helps?

Why does he want to run that motor sensorless may I ask?

when running sensoreless, the ESC will have a bit of a problem finding the neutral position of the Motor thus cogging is experience during start up, but when the motor is already running cogging issue is somehow lessens.
