Higher c rated lipo's do I really need them?

I'm gonna be purchasing some new lipos for my sc10 and dex410r but which ones do I buy?... I could buy cheap 25c stick lipos which I bought last year and ran to great effect but I think they are holding the power back,I could buy some Orion 90c lipos but do I really need 90c and what's the deal with 90c compared to the reedy 60c,I'm an average driver in terms of where I finish but at the last buggy meeting my car lacked pace I'm thinking either motor or batteries but the batteries are beginning to bulge so I'm taking it that they are goosed,I could do with some advise on which ones to use and where to get them from...

If your old LiPo's are swollen and you think it may be because you are putting too much load through them, then it might be worth upgrading. A small amount of puffing is not unusual.

As a rough guide look at the current rating of your ESC, then calculate the peak amps that the pack can deal with. If, for example, you have a 120A ESC, then a 25C pack that is 5000mAh should "in theory" deal with 125A constantly, more than what the ESC could!

To be honest I'm not sure you'll find a big difference between different LiPos.

90C is not a real-world figure, even if they can cope with that discharge in the lab (hmmmmm) the wires and connectors in the car certainly can't.

Having said that - if YOU will feel more confident with a higher rated LiPo in the car, you should get them, to stop any of those niggling doubts about whether the batteries are a problem.

I am currently using some of the Orion 90c lipo's that you have mentioned.

For the money, they are absolutely brilliant.

But.... to be honest.... I haven't noticed them to be too much different 'punch' wise from the 50c Lipo's I was running previously (there is a difference, but it's not night and day).

That said, would certainly recommend giving them a try (JE Spares have the saddle ones for around 75 quid)
