Works 93 wcs - PICS!

I recently got one of these.

A production model.

Looks in good nick! No breaks or cracks. Have several wheels aswell.

Some rust and the magnesium parts are coated.

The chassis also has some sticky residue.

Hopefully, I'm going to manage a rebuild without much in the way to replace. But I guess you'll never can tell!

I need some advice on cleaning up. I can handle to rust but what should I do with the magnesium bits and the hardened sticky residues on the chassis (used to mount electrics)?

Wow! Can't wait to see your pictures... these are a rare kit, released after Masami's Worlds Win in Basildon, very few were imported into the uk (or indeed available for the rest of the world) I e'mailed Jason Varley at CML who reckoned only 40 or so were sold through them.

As for cleaning up the magnesium parts (including the wheel hubs) - Tony at Rude Bits kindly bead blasted mine, for cleaning off the tape residue I use combination 'Ambersil' sticker & label remover & bee's wax furniture polish .... for removing superglue, good old Acetone does the job

In fact derbydan I read your build thread on rc10. It was fascinating to read and the depth you went into building your buggy! Your end result is a treat to marvel at!

I have two buggies actually. Both may be works 93 wcs but I got a feeling one is works 94 with some mods.

They both look intact.

You may be asking where are the pics....well you can wait until tomorrow when I upload then or just give me or email.

Thanks on the advice regarding cleaning. I was going to use soda blasting as there is a facility closeby.

This is the first one. I believe this to be a 93 Works (WCS?). The rims and tyres have had it!



Close up of chassis. Think that could be a lightweight kit??



The next few are of the underneath...pretty clean. Kick-up of front chassis also shown!





Rear of chassis. Some metal parts screwed into some stock holes in the rear motor mount. I'm thinking by the look of this part it was used to hand the cars up after use! Shocks look like Kyosho.



This is the second car. I don't think is a worlds 93 but maybe a later worlds? Some custom holes in the wishbones? The rear rims are intact...front two show a few small cracks.

Underside. Again pretty clean with no cracks. Has a crappy Traxxas bumper bolted on. Ugly, but has seemed to protect the front aswell. Shocks on this one are Kyosho gold caps all around.



Here are some more pics of the battery straps (some with custom holes), stock/custom rim (but with worn tyres) and a motor mount.







Electrics: EPIC D6, TRINITY motor, Nosram International ESC, few basic servo (one Acoms other Futaba).

I can say that so far on close external inspection there is no major cracks/damage but plenty of dust and lots of sticky residue from electronics being placed. Some bits have rust.

Please let me know what you think. Plan to clean and rebuild. Will defo need a few shells, undertrays and a (Kinborough?) wing. The wing on one of them looks intact, just paint flaking off!

the rear shocks with the losi pink springs are old schumacher units from the old cats/cougars...

They are both modified YZ 10s. The spare motor mount looks like it's from a Tomy Intruder.

another set of shock come from kyosho ultima rb sport
the roller mixed many parts you need be rsstore, but I never seen the carbon fiber chassis have marked yokomo

Thanks for the info on the shocks.

I think one of the rollers is more like stock. The other (second) car is mixed/modified.

Does anyone know where I can get a manual?

I found a 94 manual from competitionX.

I think I'll be able to get around a rebuild.

The second chassis will be a bit more tricky....need new wishbones thoough!

Exactly!! Any of the Yokomo buggies are relatively rare, & these look like they have good potential (I was amazed how well some of the parts on my YZ10 came out after a little elbow grease) ... good luck with the re-builds & keep us posted with updates as you go

Out of interest what are the shock towers & top decks made out of? They look like black FRP/GRP - the standard kit items were made with white parts as far as I know... your parts look a little thicker maybe?

Yeah, I think on the first roller the shock towers are not stock and are thicker anda different colour. This may be a Yokomo option part!

I will take pics of my rebuild as I go along.

Where can I get repro bodies and undertray?

Also, I was going to go old skool and run brushed/NiMH. Could I run Brushless/Lipo? If so what's a safe spec?

Lipos will fit. I ran trackpower in my Pavidis. The rear shock tower on the Yoke with the white bumper is a Pavidis tower. You can get repro bodies from either Mr lexan or team blue groove on ebay.

If your going to replace the shocks AE shocks are a prefect upgrade and you can still get them. You will need .71 on the front and 1.02 on the rear.
