Default EVENT ORGANISOR KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT RC BUT NEEDS HELP

Hi guys and girls, sorry to impose on your forum but i work for a major motorsports event company and am trying to find some-one to talk to regarding a great opportunity for a club or organisation to bring RC to our event and run either a round of your racing or to just come and play. Could anyone provide me with a contact or telephone number preferably as i urgently need to sort this out and finding any kind of contact with anyone RC related is proving difficult. Many thanks for your help, Mark.

if you look further down the forum you will see a list of clubs from all over the country, where is your event being held? I'm sure there will be a club in that area.

The BRCA is the governing body, you can search it on google, as for a phone number I'm not too sure on that but someone on here will advise very soon I'm sure

Hi John, i've searched for ages and no numbers? Wow your community is like a secret organisation....lol

Many thanks, our event is held in North Yorkshire, found some local clubs but i really need a heavyweight in the industry to deal with this as it has the possibility to add a fantastic date to your events calendar. Fingers crossed.

Hi,

Are you after people paying for a go with the cars or a race meeting?

I can do the former as I have cars and equipment to make the track

Give me a call 07739632250. Ben

Yes, it is a bit private as it's all run on a voluntary / part time basis so most people only have time to sort stuff out in the evenings.

Maybe contacting a shop in that area could be useful, MB models are in Leeds I believe so getting towards the right area. Many of the shop staff and owners are also racers so they are a good point of contact.

Another option could be to contact a manufacturer (such as Schumacher, who's website is a link at the top of the oOple home page) they have a long history of organising race meetings in the UK.

Hi Mark,

Nothing secret about it, it just that all/most of the RC world is voluntary, only a few of the big manufacturers and a small handful of drivers work full time on it.

The BRCA that organises the sport nationally is exactly the same, they are all voluntary, but I believe their website does have contact phone numbers on it if you know where to look! The top head guy of the BRCA is a guy called Chris Hardisty, try seaching out his contact details, he would be able to help advise you on who to speak to.

Depending on what sort of event you want to run you may need to pick the right class of racing....this forum is primarily a 1/10th offroad forum, but the sport does have various different scales and types of racing that happen all across the country.

If it's 1/10th offroad that your interested in, as mentioned already check the club listing here for the one closest, a quick search through the club pages on here should find you websites, contacts, etc, but in terms of 'heavy weight' contacts, the best you will do is to find the club chairman. And even then, as outdoor clubs are setup very much in their own plot of land, you will need to get very lucky to find someone who has the resources to move/setup a track and the required facilities on a new piece of land somewhere for a one off event.

Not trying to be dismissive of your idea, as it does sound like fun, and I'm sure one of the clubs up that way would jump at the chance, anything for another days racing! But just be aware it's not a professional world to the same degree as 1:1 motor sports, and setting up a one off event is no small amount of effort for volunteers!

So with all that said...and not knowing that particular area of the UK very well, I would suggest trying to speak to James Helliwell (His profile is called "james" on here ***CLICKY***. He helps run the Robin Hood Raceway, which is part of the York club. They have one of the best RC facilities in the country, and have the man power of a number of countries best drivers behind them.

In that area if I was trying to do anything then I'd probably speak to him...not sure if he'd be able to help directly, they are pretty busy with their own projects at the moment, but he might know who could help you!

Good luck with it, look forward to hearing all about once its organised!

If you go to brca.org and look in the handbook, there's contact numbers there.

Hi guys, many MANY thanks for your very friendly and open response to my requests for help. We run a major Tuner car event in North Yorkshire each year and have a great plan to run an RC event within the main event. We have a HUGE amount of space but clearly we will need the advice and input from people like yourselves. I did look on BRCA website but could not find any numbers. Your help has been great and i really appreciate all your help. I'm sure i will be back if that's ok. It's great to still hear there's voluntary communities still providing resources and events for all generations.

Fantastic, again my deepest and sincerest thanks for not shooting me in the firing range but merely aiding my aim.

Mark

Mb models will probably also have some good advice for you if you need it, he races various rc stuff himself and has also run a club so will know the ins and out of what he can provide you with.

What class are you looking to run buggies/touring cars etc?

either way sounds really interesting and hope you find the info your looking for.
