Default HELP....simple question about 1sand 2s lipos.

confused, i use saddles, and these are 2s, yes. ok. simple.

I was chatting today about mardave/supastox etc and was told a 1s is used.

so. do i asume right that a 1s is basically one half of a 2 pack saddle lipo, being only 3.7v? if so, how does it power the receiver etc etc as thats half the 7.4v thats normally used?

or are 1s lipos totally different.

also regarding the ESC, does it have to be purpose made for 1s use??

cheers.

as i dont run a 1s car i dont know much but do know some knowledge that may help.

you need a 1s esc i think speed passion make one.
and yes 1s is 3.7v and normally in mardaves the racers use a stubby type 1s which is slightly bigger than a saddle.
about the reciever bit,if you plug a 3.7v in your buggy does it work the throttle or steering.that might answer your question

thanks

Yes 1/2 a saddle is 1S, or a 3.7v pack.
1S packs for mardave/schumacher are a different case size though, but you could (and people do) get away with running 1/2 a saddle.

Regarding voltages for receivers etc, most run from about 3.5v to 6v, so a 1S pack will power them fine, but your servo will be much slower at this voltage. 1S racers get around this by either running a voltage booster to power the receiver and servo at ~5-6V, or they run a 1S compatible speedo which has the booster built in, so its BEC output is ~5-6v when running on a 1S pack.

Examples:
booster
1S ESC

Default 1 cell Li-po

You can use a split saddle lipo as a 1 cell but it will not be as long and taller than a 'proper' 1 cell lipo.
