that sounds like a good idea. I shall have a look at doing that. Thanks.

5 spoke wheels look awesome! How will a brushed motor cope with lipo power and will it be noticeably faster with all that extra capacity?

The crap Mardave diff will last about 3 seconds if you're lucky |

When I used the heavily modded mardave diff I got it to last 4 meetings before the diff halves were badly worn with a 19t spec motor. The pins in the driveshaft snapped all the time too . I have had a lot of experience with this car and I will tell anyone planning on racing it to swap the diff and driveshafts before racing or you will be wasting your time. If you had an original diff from an early car then you could probably get away with a very mild motor but it wouldn't last long. I think the best combo is rc10 b4 diff halves, diff plates and thrust bearing with a mardave cobra diff gear and schumacher balls. Bearings will need a slight modification. It's not hard to do and is reliable.

The Mardave diff in mine's original box wouldn't stay set for more than a couple of minutes with a 27t Parma Cyclone brushed superstock before slipping its boollox off. I've run a 19x1t Comodo Dragon,a 17x2 TMS Challenger and a 15x3 Reedy on the 'Rat box, trust me,it goes well on a Ni-Cad with the Dragon and flies with either the Challenger or the Reedy, never tried it with a Li-Po(too much dinero for Mrs Miggers to sanction the purchase of). Mine is also permanently set up for dirt/dusty clay too. What're you running yours on Blue? astro judging from the cut-staggers up front and the shock angles. Try JC Racing for five spokes: http://www.jcracingproducts.co.uk/products/ They do'em in either yellow or white. |

Yep it's an outdoor astro track.
The motor will be a tamiya sport tuned silvercan brushed motor. And the wheels on it are the JC racing ones mate I think they look great so couldn't resist. |

Mine's got JC's on too,but RC10B3 ones.
They're deeper dished than Cobra ones. Mine runs RC10B3 front axles, knuckles,C brackets and composite shock tower with a Durga ballraced steering rack. It's in the middle of having an RC10B3 front bulkhead and suspension arms grafted on instead of the soft Mardave bits. Wierdly,Mardave hinge pins are the same diameter as the old Associated ones, just longer. |

Ran the Cobra at ARC today and loved it. Handled very nicely and the diff stood up fine to two twenty minutes runs without any problems.
However I did have a problem with the screws that hold the front and rear ends to the chassis coming loose. I tried adding a drop of tyre glue to them before screwing them in. Seemed to help a bit. Also after a long run my motor was still pretty cool so I'm thinking that I could go bigger on the pinion. |

You don't want to let him near anything with this missile even if he
promises to power it by elastic band never a Tamiya Black can There are some lurid tales of this thing's performance knocking about...... |

Decision made now. I am rebuilding my cobra. I am going to use team c or associated shocks, black can motor, either a Novak or Lrp esc and Savox servo. I need to decide on which gearbox to use. I have a heavily modded standard one or an associated stealth box to choose from. Ill order some Jc wheels for it tomorrow and then order a black can.
