Default How steep for a wall ride?

Those that have built them how steep could I have one that will work and not just be a pain in the arse, wishing we had done it different?

Ours is pretty much vertical but it's only a straight up and down job, I've run on one previously which was a good 3 metres long and must have been 70 degrees.

That's ours. The bit above the centre track marker is vertical. The main think we found was to make sure the radius onto the wall was not too severe otherwise it made it very hard to get a good run over it.

THanks
Could you do a pic from the side? What radius for the initial ramp?

That's not a wall ride....

...this is a wall ride lol!!!

The angle isn't really critical, it's more the shape leading into it in our experience

That one in the pic above is made of 8x4 sheets of 18mm ply leaning longways (the long edge vertically) against a wall...with 8x4 sheets of hardboard laid (with the short edge vertically) forming the curves on and off...and it worked well.

My advise with wall rides would be to make it as wide/tall/long as you can...otherwise it's a bit of a non entity of a track feature...ones that form hairpins are over so quickly it almost isn't really a feature! Your on and off it in prob not much more than a second...prob less in reality...so go as big/wide as you can!

And make sure it's high enough that you can get a full track width above the apex...otherwise it can be a bit of an obstacle in race conditions.

Practical limitations obviously dictate how big you can go...but aim big to begin with would be my advice!

Ok so that does beat our puny effort lol.

Can't get any more photos till next week but I would say the radius is about 1 metre

Extremely impressive!
With a feature as large as that you can use it as a massive sweeper, two single wall's... the possibilities are nearly endless

Thanks Col

We have a work day tomorrow so Ill be pointing with my whole hand, delegating and hopefully we can get it finished along with some small whoops and a couple of jumps. Ill get those pics up later

I'm thinking about mentioning to the club that we could paint the hall or at least the walls at least 1-1.5m up in white, if not the whole walls.

I'm hoping that it will give a larger feel to the track as its kinda small.

What do you think? Suggestions?

As well I'm thinking about some more posters/banners etc and painting a logo or three in the corners/different places of the wall ride to liven the place up a bit, and to give a position to shout if you on your roof there as you can't say on the wall ride as its too big now

Maybe say " At the "Durango" corner or "Losi" corner etc or maybe just boring numbers
