hey guys looking for a bit of advice.
I shall be starting to race in 1/10 off road next year and it will be the first time I have raced using a lipo and brushless setup. I have an Etronix photon 60amp ESC running a 9turn Etronix Photon motor. Using a 5000mah 2s lipo stick pack from vapextech. My question is can I run all day on one pack just topping it up between races or will the cells performance drop off doing this? |

Yes should be fine. I have one battery for each of my cars which i charge after each run and they work fine.

TBH, you'd probably be able to run 2x7 or 3x5 minute heats without charging at all!
So using the 20-30 odd minutes between heats to cool down and then top the battery up should be no problem. Alternatively, keep your eyes peeled on here (or elsewhere) a get a second pack as a back up. (For convenience rather than necessity) |

If you want 'peak' performance then at least 2 packs of cells, probably 3 would be in order for a days racing.

You'll only need more than 1 pack if your racing at a club with very low numbers and quick rounds of racing!
I've had 1 pack for each of my cars for the last 5 years, running at the front end of the A finals at my local clubs with 4-5 heats of cars running, so little more than 30 mins between races, topping up as much as time allows in between and have no issues ![]() Half decent lipos don't drop (noticeably) in performance over 5 mins, though over a year or two of regular use they do slowly degrade....but only very very slowly! You could probably get 2 runs out if a pack without charging, but no more than that without risking them dumping during a 3rd run...which isn't dangerous as long as your ESC has it's lipo cutoff set correctly. I balance charge before each run myself though, as do most people. Enjoy the new bread of electrics ![]()
