I sold an NIP one to Bigbison at the end of last year. Dunno if he ever used it. I knew what I had, what I paid for it (£50 from the States) and what it was probably worth but to be honest, as it was a "gold" goldtub (not the fluro-orangey-gold ones that you see more of) I was happy to be shot of it. The big prob was that I couldn't find a new nosepiece for it, then I came across a new built rolling chassis on fleabay which I bagged for more or less the same money so it was surplus to requirements. Vintage RC10 bits seem to be like Losi shocks, they are about but you need to be in the right place at the right time because they don't hang about.

I didn't realise Fibre-Lyte did a moulded tub but now I've seen it my wallet is shaking .

In my opinion, if you want one as a runner, you must get a stealth gearbox for it. I've never owned a 6 gear but to keep running require a lot of work and finding parts i.e. the idlers etc and the spurs. The stealth in mine was perfect when \I bought it and has done a winter of vintage and an 1/6th of an endurance race and is still bang on.

Also the later long wishbone cars handle so much better, though the short ones can be as fun, though for comedy value potentially.

hey thanks for the reply, didnt mean as a racer, just as an occasional runner. More interested in wether the carbon chassis and hop up parts are anything special and when are they dated from, i cant seem to find anything out about it..

Excuse my ignorance - just learning - can't i buy the stealth trans afterwards? more interested in the chassis and looking to customise/freshen this a bit. Like wise with the wishbones, are the ones on here the longer or shorter? I think it includes the originals..

Graphite was the last version of the 6 gear I think, pretty old though! No idea on the wishbones, I'm not that into them to know but someone will do.

The car has Andy's A-arms in front - which were popular aftermarket long wishbones. The original short front wishbones are _really_ short - in fact they are about as long front-to-back as they are wide.

I can't tell if that chassis is also drilled out for the stealth gearbox from the photo, but I'd imagine it would be. I believe that all but the earliest gold tub chassis had the holes for stealth boxes.

The 6-gear is a complicated and perhaps not terribly efficient piece of machinery - but the sound is legendary... until you start mashing idle gears. The diff is also very hard to keep clean and smooth, as it lives in the spur. Luckily idle gears are still available new. I love and race the 6 Gear...

I'm personally not so sure about that purple/green action though... But hey, to each his own!

Andy also made short front arms but as you quite rightly say tymill these are the long ones.

The chassis looks to me like an early graphite which were not drilled for stealth and are quite sort after in unscratched condition.

Personally I'm not keen on the 6 gear transmissions but I can appreciate the retro feel and noise, however I wouldn't want one as my only original RC10 runner.

For my money there's nothing on that car that attracts me, for a first original RC10 runner I would hold out for a Stealth CE or Team Car, there's more tubs about than graphites so they're cheaper and no real benefit to graphite chassis anyway, they tend to be to flexible and this I believe was the reason why the later Worlds Car was a tub.

Don't suppose anyone has either a black motor plate or set of cvd's for a worlds/CE? I have a gold motor plate at the moment on my more or less worlds spec car, but really after a black one to match the rest of the car.

Hey,

I think i am starting to figure out the different chassis and releases out there.

For the Stealth CE, I'd be looking at a black tub version right?

and this below

The car in the link looks like it started life an late 6011 CE (black parts) but has some modifications, the chassis is a C (no countersinking for the 6 gear transmission) It is not a Worlds Car these are supplied with black milled chassis only and Team Cars were only sold with black or carbon chassis.

The one you have linked would make a very nice runner, it's fitted with some practical modifications including the rear drive shafts and ball raced steering.

I'm pretty sure CE's were never supplied with black chassis but you never know with Associated sometimes they just put the bits in a box put a sticker on it and sent it out
