Default Need some help.

If you are wanting to use the hall at Seaham to race in, the club requires a couple of volunteers who will be there most weekends and at least one of them every time people are in the club, to be classed as key holders and go to one meeting a month with the management committee.

Neither myself or Ian have the time,

So the decisions that need to be made are do you want to race there and who is going to volunteer.

If no one volunteers then I'm sorry but the club is out of options for somewhere to race for the immediate future.

Thanks

Peter

Sundays are probably going to be 10 till 3,

The monthly meeting is on the first wednesday of every month, I think he said 10 till 12 but not 100% on that.

As for 10 till 3 on a sunday I would not be able to make it every weekend as the wife will not be to happy.

Fair enough, yes it is on a morning, but if the club wants to carry on people need to do some work instead of leaving it for others to do.

If people aren't happy with the times for seaham, phone round and find somewhere else.

Well you have to admit that this once a month 10-12am is out of the question for 90% of your members and i think its strange that they would ask someone to attend at this time ?
Lets say we can get around this whats other peoples views on the time of 10 til 3 on a sunday ?

I am not trying to be negative

The 10-12 meeting is part of the letting agreement, it seems that a large amount of the membership are quite happy to let one or two people do the work, go to all the meetings etc but now it would appear that those one or two people don't have the time to do all the running about.

On a side note, all of the equipment needs removing from the cupboard, hopefully we'll have an extra 30 mins on tuesday to do this, it then needs removing from the school grounds completely by sunday.

As far as Sunday racing discussion goes, we're never going to get a day/time that suits everyone, Sunday racing will open the opportunity for more people to race than a Tuesday including those from Teeside who no longer have buggy racing. There was a topic posted in North East for this reason, yes Jarrow members matter but we can't just choose a time/place/day because it meets the needs of a few particularly with the price we will be paying for hall hire being much higher. Sunday afternoon also means more children will be able to access, which are the future of RC racing not us old farts. 9.30pm is too late for most kids to finish and get home, another alternative was starting racing at 5pm to finish earlier at another venue but this won't suit those who work.

Seaham have also offered storage, something we would have to pay for otherwise, trailer....then someone needed to tow it/store it. All costs money.

As has been said from the beginning if someone can find/do better they are more than welcome to do so, but they need to keep in mind how much time is needed, how many/few will be able to attend and costs as most venues were 2 to 3 times the price.

Peter

EDIT : We're moving stuff out of the cupboard on Sunday, as the school will be open, will sort out time as soon as we know where the stuff is going

Thank would be great Neil thanks for offering

Chris - If you want to run a 1/18th class on a Tuesday then that is ok but I don't think the club could do so as we couldn't afford the shortfall in rent as I doubt there would be the interest to cover it. That would be up to the committee as a final decision of course. They was £30 approx per hour, so you're talking £90 for a 3 hour booking as we previously had then of course you'd need to transport any track markings etc as there is not storage available. Ian has a list of the other requirements by the management company which include if you need access at other times a fee of approx £30 for entry to the building etc.

I don't think it would be fair asking members to foot the excess needed to cover this sort of racing every week if they aren't accessing it, even if 15 attend you still need another £45 just to cover basic lettings fee.

Nothing stopping us running additional classes on a Sunday

PS Just so people know, Sunday wasn't top of my list either but after contacting over 50 venues (unsure how many other people have tried) and many many hours of searching and telephone calls this is the best choice left, well actually pretty much the only one if you want a decent size hall, £10 per hour or less and more than 1-2 hours.

Cheers keith,

I'm going to speak to the manager tomorrow see what the requirements are regarding keys, for example if one person couldn't make it could the keys be passed to someone else for that week.

The caretaker told me it was cork and that he has to sand it down and apply some form of varnish to it every year.

So I'll have that tenner next time I see you.Thank you
