The X-6, and other mid-motor cars are still yet to prove anything though, there's not been any sort of result or convincing performance and yet i see it as quite a major change on a 2wd buggy.

What i'm basically saying is it's certainly not any Better is it? It may be a bit different, and may work ok at certain tracks but a car needs to work at all tracks which from what i've seen results wise the B4 does perfectly no?

I didn't want to be as harsh as the other guy, but to be honest that's basically what i was trying to say - i wish people would just try and concentrate on racing and doing well at it rather then attempting to be clever and make a car that's won everything going, and still winning everything "better" by doing mods that just don't seem to make any sense?

The guys in the US just race the cars, yet over here there seems to be a whole new phase of home improvement style mods and i personally just don't see the point (but obviously it's a matter of personal opinion, i'm just explaining mine)

What happened to just getting as good as you can at the sticks/wheel?? You're not going to "cheat" your way to victory by moving the motor about or making it stiffer here and there - the standard XXX CR or B4 are more then capable IF YOU ARE

I personally don't do it solely to improve the car. I also do it for the satisfaction of having a car I made myself that doesn't run half bad

Some people like racing, like me.

Others like building a kit, like me.

I combined them into a new interest of making hybrid, self-developed cars.
I can then race and develop the car all at once

christ.... what have i started....

I'm really doing this as an experiment... I never said that i am making the B4 better, or the B4 is bad... I think it's a great car and considering how long I've been out of off road, i think i'm doing ok to make regional Bs (or top of C on a really bad day... like Oswestry) with it, and this is testimony to how easy the car is to drive.

I'm doing this just to see what I can do, It's not going to be a radical change from the B4, all i'm doing is moving the batteries! It'll probably never get past the GRP stage... but a carbon version would look sweet... I've got a basic outline for the cahssis with a rough radio/cells layout drawn up, and it's going to look fantastic... and that's the most important thing...

4wd is a different beast altogether as has been shown, and there's much more room for development there i agree, whereas 2wd i do believe there's not a lot to be achieved from playing with the current crop of B4's and XXX - Look at the new Kyosho, hardly radical is it? Just their own version of a B4 / XXX if you like really....... which again says to me that there isn't some magic formula out there to make a better 2wd car by moving the weight around a bit, especially when it's being done by mainly people in their garages/bedrooms - i think if you can run round behind the top of the field at a National doing similar lap times then yes you may see a need to change the car or try something new as you then MIGHT find yourself a tad quicker, but i just think the B4 is sorted and good enough to win anywhere and think people are more likely to get put off and go backwards with their racing if they keep messing about with the car as they will just get frustrated.

I'm taking this pretty light hearted and certainly don't want to offend anyone as it's all a matter of opinion - and from my own personal one, the cars are good enough if you are and i thought we all "raced" for the same reasons?? Enjoy anyway

You really are missing the point, Rob wants to customise the car because he enjoys it, it's not only to try and improve the car. I totally understand where he's coming from. I do this hobby not only to race, but i love the technical side of things too. Yeah, the b4 is the class of the field (on most tracks), but if someone wants to make mods to it, then why the hell not!

Yeah, thats what I feel like. I like racing. I like building. What problem does it cause anyone else? None. Unless you pull a me, and don't build anything for 3 years, till now.

Well everyone's entitled to an opinion, whether YOU think it's helping or not

He asked "ok, what do people think would make the B4 a better car? "

People have given answers, they don't all have to be to your liking :-)

No problem at all this is a forum and the place to debate these things, i think the current 2wd cars can be improved upon, you don't
