this appears to be turning in to a 'slag of the guys who are willing to try stuff' thread...

if nobody experimented with stuff we'd all be living in caves and eating raw meat, then what would we all do on a sunday?

How much money are you guys going to waste before you go back to the rear mount... Atomic?????

PaulR - are you seriously suggesting in all your apparent knowledge that you know Team Losi have NEVER tried a mid mounted motor setup? Come on my friend, how long have you been involved with the running of Team Losi america and your afiliation with Gil Jnr and Snr? Long?

And are you also saying that Team Losi are no longer interested in Car racing at all? mate ring them, speak to a member of the R&D team and ask how their 8IGHT campaign is going... Your sarky thoughts and cutting down people cause of your "apparent knowledge" man is not stupid, its embarassing...

All of you guys, tell me why if it such a HUGE advantage to have a mid mounted car, are you not winning on a grand scale (club meets not included at ma and pa's backyard bash) I guess Kyosho, Team Losi, AE, etc in no particular order, have got it wrong hey?

its light hearted until you make a brief, piss take of a comment champion
erm, have you ever seen an AC S2 in the flesh? in my opinion this is simply the best looking 2wd on the market, and if i had the ready's i'd be running one myself... maybe next year!

Rob, remember when Keiran Southern made those fiberglass wishbones? And his car just prolapsed when it hit a tyre?

basically all i'm doing is modding the chassis, a 3 piece carbon fibre job (eventually) with saddle pack cell arrangement, and a 2-piece lower deck, single piece upper. Narrower too, but i'm going to try to get all the radio on the lower plate if i can. May even have the ESC behind the cells on the chassis.

The graph paper sketches and stuff are looking pretty good, i've got a basic lower plate cut from thick 3mm acetate at the moment, but i think i'm just going to give the drawings to a friendly enginerr who has a better chance of cutting and drilling it accurately than i do!

The only part I'm struggling to get my head around is mounting the back end on to the flat chassis. I'm in the process of obtaining an old chassis to cut up and use for mounting, but I'm going to have a proper look over the weekend and see what else I can come up with.

Use BJ4 pivot blocks, and some 6mm ali rod.

Or You could cut the whole end of the B4 off, like I did, chassis and all, and bolt it on.

Our cars will be layed out pretty much the same from what you described, will be nice to see yours.
