Default Ellis Stafford - carbon fibre ackerman steering mod - now available

Just to let you all know that the much talked about "Ackerman Steering Mod" by Ellis Stafford for the Lazer FS2 is now available from stock.

The full press release etc will be going out to dealers and added on to the websites etc later on this weekend, but for those who cannot wait please contact your local X-Factory UK dealer to get your hands on some now...

For the time being and for the quickest supply the part has gone into our "DMS Partz" range (but may move into Ellis's own E-Speed range in the near future).

Our part number is - DMS170, the RRP price is £11.29, which is for all three of the carbon fibre pieces in the set.

This part also joins our other Lazer FS2 carbon fibre parts in our range as follows;

DMS167 - 4mm FS2 carbon fibre front shock tower - £11.19
DMS168 - 4mm FS2 carbon fibre rear shock tower - £15.49
DMS169 - Carbon fibre FS2 battery straps - 2 - £18.39

Any chance of some pics of the full selection of carbon parts you have for the FS2?

No worries if you can't, I'm not opening the can of worms again!

The bridgeing piece behind the new part.. so that would mean a 2mm washer behind the new part to make up the gap for the bottom screw..

Me and Col are running it this way, our part is made from 2mm c/f and have another 3mm before the stud.. so 5mm further forward than kit.

Use UMW508 (silver) or UMW508B (black) this has 2mm built on to the stud and has a long enough thread to get more spacers on if required and use a nyloc securely!

I have now uploaded the image and the product itself to the X-factory UK website. The two carbon pieces bolt on to the front of the bridge piece, I will attempt to attach an image of the complete assembly.....

To clarify, what is the advantage of using this part and how does it affect/improve the car over the kit pieces?

And is this seen as an "always on" part or is it a tuning aid for certain tracks?

Thanks!

Perhaps a stupid question but will this modification also fit a standard-FS (without the 2...)

When i first tried the car with it fitted i found the steering much more direct through the whole corner.. prior to fitting i found the car quite " lazy " on initial turn in, but once you scrubbed speed it would start to turn in nicely.. Just makes the car i find more consistent through all turns and alot sharper/alive more responsive to input..

Last weekend i tried this with 7deg hubs and max front kick up for the slippey'ish floor and the car was even better.. very quick between turns, changeing direction nicely..

For practice this weekend at worksop im trying the car as it finished at Chadderton but running the slipper as " separates " I had a drive of Col's and it seemed to lock the back end down a touch and seemed to get better drive out the corner without a kick like you get with a pinned slipper..

I would say this mod will work well on any surface..
