Default Just a quicky re Tamiya Spray Paint -Plastic/Polycarbonate

Hi all

Just a quick question.....got a lexan shell to spray up for my SCT this week, however just got home from work to find that the spray paint that has come is the Tamiya for Plastic one, I thought was buying the for polycarbonate one.

Will it be ok to use the for Plastic Spray Paint on a lexan shell?

Cheers
matt

Cheers for reply mate

In theory tho, I cover the inside of all my shells in gaffer tape......so if I did this and literally covered the whole shell then that should be ok? as the paint can't flake anywhere but onto the gaffer?

it would work in theory but when it starts flakinf it would look cracked, personaly i would get down to model shop for the right paint, after all you dont want to spend the time painting it to then it start to look cracked.

and no probs fella.

True true

Dagnammit, just being an inpatient two year old and as doing an all one colour base colour kinda really needs to be right.

Oh well off to LHS tomorrow (and moan at ebay seller for having wrong picture in their advert knew I should have just gone to my LHS for paint in the 1st place)

Actually one more question while I'm here....

I'm going to spray the shell Pearl White (then put a ton of stickers on) would I need to respray/do an overcoat of black? or would just white on it's own be ok?

Thanks again
matt

lol you should send it back, try get your dollar back because 5er for can paint is alot for what it is.
i just had my first pro painted shell done it was £25 and was done within afew days, well worth the price, plus saves us messing about masking it up and spending the money on 3 or 4 cans of paint and not using the full cans.

it depends, white would be better but you could use silver or gold if you wanted a tint of yellow, but me personal would say silver.
plus silver is the least transparent out of all the colours.

Cheers mate, hopefully when I get the trucks out of the utility room again will be able to take some more vids - have a better car cam now too, so the next ones should be much better quality

And yeah, messaged the ebay (shop)seller already to say that they've shown the wrong pic in the ad, next one a bit later will be that I'm sending it back at their cost

Gonna pop down my LHS now as their just down the road from me (TJD models) and would have been nice to get a pro painted shell, alas thought a can of spray paint and stickers worked out to be a smidge cheaper

If I remember correctly the pearl white from tamiya is quite transparent and definately needs to be backed with another colour.

I'd back the Pearl white with standard white tamiya paint, as the name suggests the pearl white is pearl so you will get that lovely pearl effect from that.

Good luck

Hi guys, well the original one I was after was the old pearl, alas my LHS only had white, so plain white it is

Gonna do the spraying in a mo, then adding the mound of stickers

So should be able to post up something either alot later on tonight or after paintballing tomorrow

Cheers
