Spektrum Stick 2.4ghz Transmitter's
came down for yesterdays meeting !
whilst walking through the pits I seen what looked like a Spektrum Stick 2.4ghz Transmitter with DX3R on the top ! I didn't think Spektrum made a 2.4ghz stick tranny and the DX3R is a wheel tranny Anyone shed some light on this ? Is it a modified TX or just a sticker on another brand's tx ?

It's a dx3-r transplanted into a ko transmitter I think. There's a thread on here about it somewhere.

Yeah I noticed that too.
It was Lloyd Storey's transmitter. |

Spektrum will be bringing out a budget and high end stick radio for cars sometime this year but their isn't any confirmed details yet. Darren Bloomfield also has a KO/3R conversion transmitter, Dave Spashett has the sample stick radio tho.

I'm not 100% on this but, the use of aircraft transmitters for land based vehicles is not allowed due to the output of the signal being very high and can cause interferance with other systems as the signal will over power the less strong land based transmitters.
Dont waste money on a transmitter to be told later that you can't use it. |

Not saying there's any higher or lower output rates but there's a difference or a kind

the original post quoted output, you are correct in that you cannot use ground rx's with air sets and vice versa as they use different protocols, however should you wish to use a dx6i in a car you would need to use a compatible air rx, normally these are 6 channel you just need to plug into the correct channel(s), there is some difference with failsafe programming and you will have the issue that the sticks are two position which might take some getting used to

You can use isolators so that the sticks would only travel in the direct you want them to http://bit.ly/PdbiJV plus you will need to change the throttle stick from a ratchet to a spring so it returns to neutral.
As for the protocols from memory I think there is dsm, dsm2 & dsmx so be careful choosing your receiver. The signal strength is more to do with global or france, global is stronger and some transmitters are now coming with this option to switch (kyosho, hpi etc)

Just did a spec check for a Spektrum DX6I and that pushes out 1 watt the Sanwa exzes pushes out a 10mw.
Surface based objects (boats and cars) only need short range, where as aircraft need a larger range. Im not saying im right as im not sure, but I would definatly ask the BRCA about it before making a purchase. |

equally the sanwa 2.4 system also outputs at 100mw aircraft or surface, i cannot find anywhere if this is selectable to the higher power allowed by the FCC.
