IMO, if you TQ you should be straight in, that should be the reward for being top qualifier, rather than a trophy for TQ (which there wasnt either )

I agree, its very unfair and someone should push to make it the same as the electric worlds. Top spot in the A is TQ.

The reason I understand why it is like that is since (in this case) when they finished qualifying on the thursday, the track still had a lot of running to be done on it with all the lower finals on the friday and then the continuation on the saturday with quarters, semis and then of course the main. In that time, with differing conditions and the ever changing weather the track can (and did) change massively and any driver who goes straight into the A main is actually seen to be at a "dis-advantage" by not running on it and getting used to those "new" conditions, where as a driver who has bumped up from the semi's will have run for the first time in a longer race and on the newer conditions and will be more fine tuned to them.....

However, I am sure if anyone offered to Elliott right now that would he have preffered to have gone straight in he would snap their hand off!!

It does not seem right that the "fastest" guy all week, was not in there, but that is the nature of beast so to speak and the unfortunate pot luck in this type of racing sometimes.....

It was indeed a sad way for Elliott to end his domination of the Worlds most prestigious 1/8 event.
However, he did the U.K proud. He must be, I am sure, a very proud young man at the moment.
I take my hat off too him. He will no doubt be a feared man at next years major events.
Well done Elliott.

If track time is seen to be the biggest factor, then let TQ man run in both semi's practices

Thats no good Chris as he would or could be a factor in that race - There is plenty of time to let the TQ man run for 10-15 mins on his own.
Its the most shitty rule in RC and that's that.

Hes talking about semi practice tony, not the semi's themselves, so it shouldn't really be a problem.

Setting aside the lack of understanding of how gas racing works, even if Elliot had been a direct qualifier to the main, the servo would most likely have failed during the final. Servos get a right beating in an 8th buggy and even with new ones fitted for the event, any can fail at that important moment.

In prepping for the finals, you can clean, replace and look at every part of a car. In general it's a bit difficult to look at a servo and judge if it was ok. Fitting new for the final would be considered a risk, as that pair could equally fail.

Elliot drove wonderfully from the very first practice and came out of the worlds as a bigger player in RC than before. Hopefully an international title is around the corner for him.

And if you don't like the format, best you propose to ifmar your ideas, however top 4 in and tq in have both been done before, and now removed as per Darren comment.
