KF2 ride height problem
I have just built my KF2, and have discovered a problem with it. I built it with the kit springs, and have discovered that at the rear of the car the ride height will not go lower than 19mm, even though the shock collars are wound all the way up. I am not running much rebound and the shocks are on the front as I am waiting for the upper transmission housing to come into stock. I will attach a picture. So could anyone possibly help me with this? Cheers

Could be that you have a lot of rebound in your shocks. I build mine so they are fairly neutral or 0 rebound. I had my kf2 at 18mm with 4-5 mm of room left on the threads to go lower.

You have got short ball cups on your shocks? And in the correct wishbone hole?

Haven't really got that much rebound. Are these the short ball cups? Presume they are as they are kit ones.

I also only have this much rebound.

Get it on a hard flat surface, drop it from about 30cms up and then check ride height.
What locations have you put the shock? I have mine on the inner most hole on the shock tower and the middle hole on the wishbone. Give that a try. Your shock rebound looks ok. Anther test for that is, are they easy to compress or quite resistive.

Ok so have dropped it from 30cm, still 19mm.
Have moved the shock from middle top and bottom to innermost on tower and middle on wishbone. Still 19mm. Rebound is good-shaft is easy to compress. Aarrrrrrggghhhh!! |

I had the same problem on my carbon K1. A friend gave me Tamiya spring cups that allow the spring to sit lower and they fit perfect.
Worth a try if you have some.

Surely the springs need to bed in. Have you run it yet, I find after rebuilding my shocks and a few runs they settle a little.

I think the alloy spring seats helped the most, didn't really change anything else put them on and it made it go down to 17

Similar k1 problem
I have the same problem while using core rc springs, I've tried the alloy cups but that didn't work. But going back to stock springs worked. But I want to fine tune the shocks.

I think stock springs will definitely solve it, I'm sticking with core springs as they have a slightly better range of rates.

This is going to be caused by the amount of rebound you have in your shocks and the weight over the rear. I currently have 46g under my shorty lipo and 15g either side of the motor. I have zero/minimal rebound in my rear shocks. The upper shock mounting is in the inside hole and lower in the middle hole with core rc blue springs. When the shock collar is wound all the way up, I can have as little as 12mm ride height if I want. This was also measured whilst I had 500cst oil in the rear shocks, with thinner oil I would suspect the rear to sit even lower.
