B-Max 4 III : essentials
Hi,
I'm somewhat giving up on the 22-4 (keeping it as a "wet astro car" though) and jumped the ship on a B-Max4 III + lightweight chassis kit I could get a good deal on. Not only that, I Always liked the B-Max III simplicity as I am a club racer now with not much time to spare beside race day :-) Car will almost exclusively be used on dry fairly high grip astroturf (bumpy but not excessively). My question : What parts do I need to get a good astro setup in terms of springs, pistons, swaybars, ... and what are the essential spares to keep in the parts box ? (I understood the front A-arms can break and also the front shocktower) |

Oh : and can I use my TLR wheels ?

I tend to pick most of my setup info up from here as a starting point:

I'm guessing it would be advisable to take the 4mm shocktower as a spare ? What about the "normal" or hard type front A-arms ? What about those Yatabe springs ? |

I have a spare but fitted the Schumacher front tower protector to the Bmax4, there is a post on here from Neal Lewis on how to fit it. Not broke one since it has been on the car. I have spare front arms too but not broke one of them either.
If you get a big front impact the thread can strip on lower gear box housing, but the protecter seems to help with that. |

I have the kit arms and use the AE springs.

When I used to ran the B-Max4 III (i still have it, but it's not in running condition at the moment ), I mounted a Schumacher 'shock tower protector' as well, no more problems since then.
Springs is a bit personal, but the Yatabe springs are good, but other brands do fit as well. All up to the driver.

Thanks for the info !
I'll look into the schum tower protector then. Any ideas about the wheels ? I'm guessing the losi rears fit, but what about the Losi fronts ? |

Good advice. Should have figured that one out myself. That was the only part that ever broke on my trf502x after a big head on collision.

Has anyone ever mounted the shocks on their Bmax on the back of the rear arms? If so, did it make any difference?

Yeah, should be better on lower grip. I didn't notice it that much so went back with shocks on the front

I'm running high traction carpet and your spares are probably similar. -front arms, not sure if I've ever broken a rear arm -front and rear tower -several spurs (go through them quite a bit with mod) -spare set of front and rear drive shafts I think that's it really? Great to see people still going for the bmax 4. It really is easy to work on. It's my first race grade Rc and I'm glad I didn't get anything else e.g xb4- costly parts, d413, hard to get parts etc Last edited by ayske1; 14-04-2016 at 09:49 AM. |

Just did my first race with the BMax 4 III. Had some setup issues during practice and the first 2 heats but slowly improved and managed to get in the a-main (barely ). In the a-finals, I nailed the setup and finished finished 4th overall from last place on the grid so I was really happy ! Car was on rails by then !
In general no big issues but some remarks :

The white spurs (84t) are not good. They dont last 3 packs.
The standard 87t should be fine.

Yup, never had a problem with the standard black spurs. The white spurs are to soft.
