Tongiht at racing my speedo kept going slow i thought what! this aint right by the ooks of it my speedo had thermalled for soem reason it came off hot i couldnt find out why my gearing was the same no crap in drive chain its all free then in last round it just went dddddrrrr like the pinion came loose or i had stripped the spur but it wasnt . So i held the spur and did the turn the diff and the other wheel just turned in the same direction no diff action! So took it apart just assumed it just needed a rebuild or soemthing so i took it out blasted all the balls down and old grease out rebuilt with losi diff lub the cream stuff and still no diff action i turn the oen out drive and th eohter doesnt turn at all no missing diff bals or anything : can anyone help.

Sounds possibly like one of your thrust race plates may be cracked

COuld it be relatewd to those copper shims that are designed to slip? Have they worn through and so only slip?

Same thought as Dan, but maybe you left them out last time you rebuilt the diff??

Is so, you'll never get the diff to do anything other than slip.

Must admit I never liked the CR diff.. so I just slapped a normal XX4 diff in mine when I ran it last season

how often would you consider replacing the copper shims?

Ash, make sure the thrust plates are in the correct order on the diff screw, i made that mistake the first time round (they're different sizes)

Phil, is the xx-4 diff the same size as the cr? even the outdrive lengths?

Stan.. I can't honestly remember.

But the first mod I did was to dremel a flat on each of the CR diff halves and then use the normal XX4 diff plates. If you try this mod, then you can always go back to the CR diff plates nice and easy.

Losi is different

Looking at the car from the back, the diff screw should be on the left hand side.

Are the cone washers under the diff nut ok? or have you over tightened them and flattened them? Sometimes just replacing these, and putting a new diff nut, on makes a big difference.

Your not trying to use the spring in the old diff halves are you??
If you are there's you problem.
