Default Bleeding Associated Shocks

I started building my B44 today - all was going great until i got to filling/bleeding the shocks.

Are they recognised as being difficult to get perfect ?

Ive had three attempts on one front, too much oil, take a bit out, feel air as the piston reaches the top, remove cap and its just foamed with air............ repeat...........

The Tamiya shocks are easy to get perfect on my 415 - maybe ive been spoilt ?

Has anyone got any tips for bleeding these shocks please ?

Yes, follow the instructions on the B4 instructions to the letter. They need a little air in them, and for them to rebound slightly.

You can download the B4 manual from associated's website:
www.rc10.com

Alternatively, you could put a small bleed hole and screw (the hinge pin retaining ones are fine) in the cap, but you will need to drill the cap, which is not easy.

Thankyou all for such prompt responses.

Im a bit miffed as i didnt realise that the shock spacers needed such an amount of work before fitting them into the shock bodies. Now ive got the choice of whether to strip the bodies down again risking damaging my "whities" Nortech orings to file the spacers down, or to risk seeing how they go for now ?

Ill say one thing for Tamiya - apart from an extra shim here and there, the instructions and the components them selves are of a much better quality than these AE ones. No bloody filing/drilling messing about needed.

Cheers guys

Richard

Richard, I think the new spacers are much better than the old ones and do not need filing down.

Perhaps Elvo can comment?

My B44 shocks went together well with no filing of spacers, I think they've changed them.

its not essential to modify them, they just work better if you do
and if you have built them with Whites in, leave it till you have to replace them before you modify them,

Ah, thats a relief thanks ever so much guys

After posting yesterday i dug out an old copy of Radio Race Car and they said that the spacer size has been reduced so you guys have now confirmed it.

As the manual states fill the shock all the way to the top and conpress it
down with the top off it to remove the air bubbles.
That's the way I did it.
