Default Futaba Tranny Batteries

Hi All,

I'm getting back into electric racing after an age away......

What transmitter batteries do you peeps use?

I've got rechargable Ansmann AA 2400 mah batteries in my Futaba 2.4 ghz stick transmitter, but is there anything better or are these sort of batteries the norm?

Thanks for looking in.

I have also recently come back to racing and i bought an 2200mah 8 cell NiMh battery pack which will plug straight into my 40MHz futaba 3VCs. You can charge this directly from most of the current range of RC battery chargers if you set it into the NiMh mode.

I have also got my hands on a second hand 2.4GHz 3VCS which came with a 3 cell lipo battery which is 2400mah, this seems to be pretty common. similar capacity to the NiMh pack but a lot smaller, giving a lighter transmitter.

Most people I talked to on my return go through several meetings between recharging their Tx. And even when you need to recharge, you can charge it pretty quickly using your car battery charger.

In short, if your battery will hold its charge, and still works, don't worry about it too much!!

I have a Futaba 4PL which comes with a 4 x AA batteries holder. I have replaced this with a 2s LiFe 6.6v 1600mah battery pack which works very well and holds a charge for weeks and can be recharged by my Lipo charger which has a LiFe setting.

Thanks for all the replies.

Although the batteries were new they have been sat around for some time and don't seem to hold their charge.

I don't want to be left without power 'in the field'.

So does anyone have a link to a shop selling suitable battery packs?

Cheers

Martin

Most model shops should have something in stock that will get you going

I bought my NiMh pack with the right connecter from Top Models in North Wales as it was local. But they should be a pretty common item so check with your local shop.

The LiPo in my other set is a Team Losi off the shelf Item (LOSB9811)

I always like to support my local shop, but if you need to buy online

Hi Guys,

It's been a while, life got in the way!

Anyhow, now on this.

Stupid question perhaps but how does the battery pack plug in?
It looks like the standard battery box plugs into the transmitter circuit board.
So is it just a case of removing the battery box and fitting the battery pack?

Thanks for the help.

have a look around and find the hybrio rechargeable nimh cells, they act in a similar way to a lipo in that they lose very little charge over time, i have these built up as a pack in my 3vc and they are excellent

These are a good set of slow self discharging radio batteries. I have them in mine.

If your worried about losing power at a meet make a charger lead
