Default FAO vintage racers - Endurance race

York vintage gents,

Fancy putting a team together of vintage cars for the Mike Leonard at Teeside in January, imagine how funny it would if we were to scare some of the new car teams after 4 hours of running 15 year old cars.

I guess this is an invite initially to the 7 drivers that took part in the Vintage race at York last week.

If you're up for it I think I might look at pushing on past a 20t stinger motor. I thin a 19t would be just the right balance of speed without shaking the car to bits (anyone good at straightening driveshafts?)

Dan

Sounds great Dan, stu and Damo were on about this.

Damo ran his stealth RC10 with a 10 turn in!

Jim's ya man for drive shafts.

Spoke to Jim last night, he's keen too. So that's 5 of us so we have a team just need to try and get Jimmy and Tom on board!

I don't think I'd go as far as a 10 in my car, though I still won't get my nice one for another week or so so not sure exactly how good that is. I've rebuilt the rough one I bought now, most of the car is quite good after some work. The shocks are knackered though and there are some other bits and bobs, but for spares for the other one its OK, the gearbox has come up nicely, can you still get the diff plates?

We spoke to Stewart at the aces, he said it would be OK for us to run a vintage team. X-tals will be the main problem.
It is the day after the next Saturday Vintage meet.

Chris, you will need some rear tyres and I will provide rear wheels. You need to get hold of Associated B2/3 frontwheels as B4 are wrong offset and front tyres.

Main problem will be shock set up cause one leaks, but I have a spare pair of XX shocks which should fit???

Car will run OK with the 19T motor in but I don't think it will handle much more!??

Just bought a new Pup (border terrier) so training is taking priority over cars until next veteran meet.

Good job it's not on till 6th of Jan!!

I'll start hunting now Damo, as for shocks - the ones on my X-6 will go straight on I bet?

Good luck with the Pup! post some pictures

Either XX4 or BK2 shocks must fit surely. You'll need a 20t for the vintage, but something a bit quicker for the endurance, I think a 19t would be fine! I'm hoping to get a 14 or something for also periodness.
