Default Losi XXX-BK pulls to one side on acceleration

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows why my XXX-BK (not BK2) pulls to the right when accelerating from standing?

This seems more pronounced when I have a faster motor installed...which makes sense considering the extra 'oomph' that a fast motor provides.

Is this because of the location of the motor, being fixed to the rear standing out to the left slightly, as an unmodified XXX would be?

Or is it that the diff is tighter on one side than the other? It shouldn't be the tyres as these are all new. Dunno about the shocks or whether these can affect this sort of thing...they've been recently rebuilt and feel good and even all round.

This is a real pain at the start of a race because I either have to go-slow on acceleration or battle with the car to keep it in a (kind of) straight line.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

if your wheels are burning out then it is supposed to happen. if your wheels are not burning out and it pull to one side then check your wheel bearings as it might stick and cause the one wheel to spin more than the other.

had this before make sure one wheel isnt tighter than the other and is binding against the wheel hub, if there not to tight then its the diff,
that is if it does it the same way every time and in different places on the track.

Check the diff, it has to be super smooth for perfect consistancy.. however i found losi diffs were some what of an art form to keep smooth over a period of time.

Check your bearings in hubs, check the driveshafts for excessive wear and check the driveshafts if they are bent or not.

Is it only happening at the start of the straight, when you set of for the start of you run? If so.. that section of the track has become pretty sandy for an unknown reason.. my car snakes abit on the start when i really put the throttle down.

Hi Paul,

Yeah....I think it just happens at the start of the start of the straight...but I can't be certain as I've never really set-off from any other part of the track.

The diff feels good to me...it's not gritty and the resistance seems equal on both sides...although maybe I'm not as 'tuned-in' as I should be in this respect. If you spin one side of the wheel / diff whilst holding the other wheel, it spins as much as the other side does (which isn't much at all and feels like it should to me).

I'll have it with me on Sunday and will probably be running it (need a break from 4WD for a bit)....maybe you could cast your expert eye over it?

Cheers.

well it could be the plates inside of diff. losi diff balls seem to be basically non wearing but the plates wear out resonably quick.

it could be the axles at the front oneside could be tighter than the other i had the same problem and thats wot mine was lossen one side or tighten it up depending on how free it is!!

After cleaning up of the whole diff in white spirits, diff rebuild, clean and reoil of all the bearings it all seems to be fine now.

I also sorted the rear camber out which was out on one side.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice.
