Default Novak 5.5R in a B44 - Too Much?

Just picked up a Novak 5.5R cheap and was wondering whether it'll be too much in a B44 with a Sphere TC and Trakpower 4800s? I was originally looking for a nice sensible 7.5 but this seemed too good a bargain to pass up

I've not raced for about 15 years - back when 1700 Nicads were cutting edge so am I asking for trouble with this much horsepower?

Or can I tame it (partially) by turning the EPA down and using the EXP on the throttle?

If not - Anyone need a Novak 5.5R?

It depends alot of whether you're running indoors or out, and how big the track is.
I run losi 5.5 in my zx5 indoors with trakpower 4900's and tbh it's too fast if the track is twisty. With 15 years out I'd try to slow it as much as possible, but would avoid buying another motor as you'll prob grow into the 5.5

It should be fast, but manageable. The Trakpowers are only 20c which is pretty tame these days so it shouldn't be too vicious under acceleration.

I ran that exact combo when the TP 4800's came out, now I'm actually considering a 7.5 in 4wd (!) as the latest Dark Power's are frankly, mental

That all sounds pretty promising then!! Can't wait to get it running.

I was using an old motor from when I last raced and it didn't appreciate Lipos!! It got a little too warm and de-soldered the brushes, diode and -ve wire!

Sounds about right

Brushed 4wd used to struggle with NiMh!

I run a 5.5 in my B44 with 35C 4200 Reedy's and it uses about 1200mah at kiddy. Indoors on polished floor is uses about 2200mah.
