Default Servo not centreing advice - Prolux S5009

Can someone advise; I'm still a newbie - Today my son ran his Mad Rat for only the second time, when I ran it round the track I noticed that it was pulling to one side - I trimmed it straight and then noticed it pulling to the right (no I hadn't overtrimmed!). Tonight back at home I realised the servo was not centring - I rigged up a straw on the servo and calculated that it is returning to "non-centre" (if thats the correct word) differently by 3 degrees... between Left to centre and Right to centre... consistently.

It's not the Transmitter/Receiver/ESC combo because I plugged it into my Rat which runs totally different components and same results

The servo is a Prolux S5009 - a) is this acceptable with a 20 quid servo (ie you get what you pay for)? b) If not, could this be a fault with only our servo? c) "Fit for purpose?

Advice please

sounds like either the servo has very poor resolution or a bad potentiometer in it causing it not to centre. one thought, check the screw holding the servo horn on isnt too long and causing problems, take it out and see if it centres properly, if it doesnt then buy another servo. try something like a hitec 645mg if you want something half decent on a budget

Thanx Dodgy,

Just tried it without the screw - same result; Do you think this is a fault with our servo? Or a characteristic of the S5009?

Does anyone else use this servo?

Do I have grounds to send it back to the supplier saying it's "not fit for purpose"; Now I feel like doubling the price (and a little) and going for something like a Savox.
