Hi, need help guru's please!
My B4 is getting really screamy I've taken the gear box apart and all looks good, motor and pinion all good too.Do I need to fill the gearbox with lube to quiet it down?

Yes you do.
Tamiya ceramic grease is really good but any type of high pressure resistant grease suitable for plastic will do fine. You might want to replace the idler and diff gear if they have run dry for a longer period of time. |

Lube - Yes
Fill - No Run a small amount of your favourite grease onto the diff gear, don't worry about the other gears (idler/layshaft) as the grease will spread around nicely. The grease should only add a very thin coating to the teeth of each gear. I would however be suspicious of another problem somewhere on the drivetrain, my guess is a seized bearing either in the gearbox or on an axle. |

Or a dry/rusty CVA grinding away, they can make squeaky/squeal noises too.
What condition is the spur in? They need replacing after a while if any grit ect finds its way under the gear cover. |

Looks like I must have had a small stone in my spur gear / pinion
Both are pretty mashed up Also just found out I was running the wrong spur anyway Oh well, more money for the model shop!
