Default Cougar gearbox mystery

Having not raced since 1995 I am very happy to find this site for reference information. My first post aims to solve my Cougar gearbox mystery.

I have Cougar 1 but the diff looks to be Cougar 2 team or racing, it is fully ballraced, has plain washers instead of lobed ones, there is no evidence of friction paper, the washer carriers are alloy and the pulley flanges push on instead of screwing in.

Can anyone confirm what type of diff this is?

Lastly and most importantly does anyone know where I can find a new diff pulley & drive belt? The pulley has three or four cracks in it and the belt looks just about shot.

Many thanks, Matt.

You may still get parts from Schumacher, I think they still use a variation of that box on a nitro truck. Check their website it lists parts they carry for all the older cars aswell.

Diff sounds like the one out of the cougar 95 ??

Look at the second page of this post I started, user Gainsy on here posted a similar diff and was looking to sell.

http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71182

Diff and belt, looked better condition than yours, and was taken from a Cougar.

Hope that helps.

Gents, thanks for the info. It is 51 tooth pulley T1171 & belt T195 that I need. Now we've solved the mystery I'll post a new message with these in the title. Matt.

The club 10 had the belt transmission guys, i had one. Just recently i changed it for the Big 6 stacked gear block instead, much better for brushless power

The early Club 10 had the belt-drive Cougar transmission. The later one (maybe after the Big6 was released?) had gear drive - mine has the gearbox.
