Default Electrics for 1/10th off road queries...

Hi Guys,

just looking into electrics and have a couple of questions;

Servo specs...what's the minimum torque required for a 4wd 1/10th off road?

With ref to brushless motors, if looking at (for example) a 13.5T motor, i see you can actually have different kV ratings in that 'turn' of motor, which doesn't make sense to me as a higher kV is going to rev higher?? So is there a 'standard' kV rating to use?

Cheers

Hi Richy
Not sure on 13.5 motors as i've never run one.

But for servo's, obviously the faster and higher torque you can afford the better. Speed wise, most people will look for around 0.1s or less for 60 degrees. Torque wise, 8kg upwards would be fine for offroad. If you plan to only run indoors with a slower motor then you can obviously get away with a lower torque as there won;t be so much strain from high speed high grip sweepers etc.
Oh, and metal gears are a must!

Something like a savox 1258 is ideal.

Most 13.5 motors are pretty good from the major brands, I would look at the HPI motors, Speed passions good stuff, Hobbywing 13.5.

The Hpi motors are great value, here is a link:

Hobbywing esc:

Xtreme rc support the club and can bring products to the meetings, just give Ed or Les a call and they can sort you out.

thanks, was looking at the savox, seems ideal, i was thinking 8kg of torque and sub 0.1 for speed. the align ds620 is similar spec (in fact IIRC they are made by savox).
