What are the best AA Rechargeable batteries for an old KO transmitter. Some seem to drop voltage very quickly and my transmitter does not like low voltage. Any suggestions. Thanks

Get some new hybrid nimh, their unused discharge rate is much lower and they retain about 80% of charge even after 12 months on the shelf (at least that's what is quoted). I find they last well in our transmitters. Most manufacturers have their own brand name (eneloop for example). I buy from 7dayshop.com who do their own brand version at a good price.

These Vapex green instants are good, don't discharge to much when not in use: http://www.vapextech.co.uk/acatalog/...eries.html#a20

I have a 40 mhz Ko Esprit II it has two separate battery compartments 4x AA 8x AA in total. It has no connectors just normal AA connections so I dont think you can get a lipo?

As the 8 usual 'dry' cells are 1.5v nominal = 12 volts as a pack and rechargeable AA cells are 1.2v nominal you can, if you can fit them in run with 9 AA rechargeable cells = 10.8 volts, this will stop your TX dropping out as a lot of modern TX's, Futaba 3VCS for example the low battery alarm sounds at 9.6 volts which is = to 8 nimh cells at nominal voltage.
Just dont go mad with trying to get the volts up too high in a 9 cell 10.8 volt rechargeable pack as this can cause damage - slow charge them and check the voltage before installing them - no more than say 12.5 volts max. |

You can dismantle it and remove the wires to the terminals so you can solder the + and - wire on each side to two seperate battery packs and recharge through the jack plug.

Any low self discharge AA, they are usually around 2100mah in capacity. I highly recommend the Sanyo Eneloop's which I bought for about £14 delivered for 8 on amazon during the summer. They done almost a full six months of racing once a week without needing charged.

Thanks for the replies. The problem I have is that if the batteries drop down to 10.4v then the range drops and I get interference at the top end of the track. Is this normal?
